Task 3: Teach, Practice, & Feedback (25 points)
Assignment
Construct a tutorial that teaches a skill or concept and provides opportunities for practice with feedback to the learner.
Suggested Strategy
AS A TEACHER/TRAINER
- First, choose
the skill or concept you want to teach. The skill does not have
to be complex. It may be as simple as adding two digit numbers
to one digit numbers.
- Now that you have the skill or concept, create
a lesson plan using
this template. Be sure to explain
well the procedures that the students will be doing prior
to going to the computer, while using the computer and after
using the computer. In this case, it's okay
if there's not a "prior" or "after." You decide.
- Now, decide how you
will give the learner an opportunity to practice the skills or concept.
This can be in the form of a practice test or a review.
- Then use the Multimedia
Planning sheet to brainstorm any ideas, resources such as sounds
that you would like to include. Think what kinds of practice you will
provide. Think what kinds of feedback you're going to give.
- Design your storyboards.
Figure out how to divide the concept or skill into an appropriate
number of slides. If you feel it's necessary, after you teach the
concept, provide a review slide. You will need to add extra slides
for the feedback. Create good storyboards with all the correct elements. Don't forget about navigation and any directions to the user.
- Have
a peer evaluate your slides using the Field
Evaluation Report. Make sure they are critical and pretend they
are not in this class.
- Now, move to the
computer to begin development in PowerPoint. Save
often.
- After development,
have a peer evaluate your slides using the Field
Evaluation Report.
- Make revisions as
necessary.
- Complete the reflection sheet.
- Upload your files to the "Task 3 " folder on my UMDrive. Make sure each file begins with your last name in the filename. For example "Smith_reflection.doc", "Smith_slides.ppt", "Smith_lessonplan.doc".
- Bring your multimedia planning sheet, storyboards, and both field evaluation reports to class to turn in.
Requirements
- Contains 15-20 slides
- Doesn't look like a group presentation. This means small text, and using the whole screen, among other things. Designed for one student sitting at a computer.

- Provides practice and feedback
- Includes navigation buttons on each slide
- Includes quit button
- Includes a title and author's name
- Reflects the capabilities of the specified grade level
- Design and Evaluation documentation as listed below
Design & Evaluation documentation
- Teacher/Trainer lesson plan
- Multimedia Planning Sheet
- Storyboards
- Field Evaluation Report from 2 peers (1 after storyboards; 1 after development)
- Screen prints/handouts
- Lessons Learned Reflection
