FunWikiQuote--a vast collection of quotes from various sources, submitted by hundreds of contributors. The Memory Archive -- large collection of stories from people about their memories, from high school, growing up, hometowns, etc.. In a wiki, of course. WikisAs we learned in Week 4, a wiki is server software that results in a web site composed of linked pages that anyone can edit. We read "What's a Wiki", from extremetech.com, then we read this article by Brian Lamb, "Wide Open Spaces: Wikis, Ready or Not " in Educause Review. There are many prominent wiki projects (Wikipedia, Wikiquote, Wikispecies, Wikbooks). Spend a few minutes with each of these. Now, watch this screencast on how wiki pages get editing and evolve in Wikipedia. What else are wikis good for? How about creating free textbooks for those who cannot purchase them? Read about the Global Text Project, and read this news article about the project. To sum up, read this article, "Using wiki in education". Now, go here on our class wiki and post at least 50 words with a specific example of how you could use a wiki in an instructional environment of your choosing. Handy LinkThe Encyclopedia of Educational Technology from the Department of Educational Technology at San Diego State University is a great resource. Course EvauationPlease complete the course SIRS evaluation, as instructed in an email from the University. Please take a minute to answer these two questions in this anonymous feedback form. All your feedback is welcome and valuable. This form goes only to me, and I use it to learn as much as I can from you, to make the course as effective as it can be. GradesPlease check the gradebook this week, and send me any questions. You should see all your grades except class participation, which I will complete after the last day of classes. |

We're gearing up for a Christmas trip to Lubbock, Texas to see my mom, and then to San Antonio to visit my sister, her family, and their new daughter from China. They returned to the States yesterday, and everything and everyone (baby Olivia) is fine. |

ThanksThanks for your hard work this semester. I have enjoyed interacting with you via our various communication means (even occasionally in person). Hopefully I will see many of you as you continue on in your studies. Please feel free to contact me and let me know how your are doing, and if you need any help, or anything like that. What a great semester this has been. I've seen some really strong work from students. Thank you to those who have asked about taking more courses with me. I would be glad to see you there. Here's my teaching schedule. It has been my honor and privilege to teach you and work with you this semester. I wish you all the success in the world! Have a great holiday! Dr. M. |
