HTML-based Instructional Project
You will then create an HTML-based instructional product, based on your design document. This instructional product should be focused on only one or a few learning goals. Your product must be primarily HTML-based and viewable in a web browser. I will grade your assignment using this rubric.
Your instruction will include:
- at least 20 screens, but no more than 25 unless absolutely necessary.
- a main menu or "home"
- a "directions" or "help" screen
- the instructional content or environment and activities
- an opportunity for learner practice (or something like it)
- a review section or quiz (that is, some kind of assessment)
- appropriate text and images
- At least five, but no more than ten links to external web resources
- a clear, consistent, and understandable navigation scheme
Here are some basic examples: Note I am expecting more than a simple "page-turner" like these. A straight page-turner is not acceptable. Feel free to use the ideas in these files. One thing to fix about these examples from PowerPoint is that they generally use type that is too large for one user at one computer. If you are using a typeface (font) size of more than 20, it is probably too large. Remember--one computer, one user. This is not a group presentation.
Some examples using Flash
- Recording Studio System Interconnection by Jon Frazer. This project is very well done. The .fla file is very large (9.9 MB).
- Understanding XML by Jong-Pil Cheong. This project has a nice look and feel to it. The assessment at the end is interesting. The navigation is a bit confusing, and some of the instructional text needs editing. (.fla files, 1 MB)
- Using PRIMIS by Jennifer Abney. This CBI uses screenrecordings as the primary content. The interface is clean, but needs a few cosmetic fixes. (.fla file, 450K)
