The AECT web presence has three purposes:

1. Serve the field

Inform visitors and participants about the field of instructional design and technology. Highlight publications, findings, issues, policies, controversies, and initiatives in IDT.

2. Serve the members

Help members interact and collaborate. Inform members about AECT services. Inform members about research, projects, initiatives, and issues in the field of IDT.

3. Promote the organization

Encourage membership and participation in sponsored events. Sell publications and other products. Increase revenue. Promote AECT as a prominent organization of researchers and practitioners at the international level.
