MMORPG- The proliferation of these multi-player games is advanced with such trends as celebrity poker/gambling. In addition, a lot of gamers can benefit from the availability of additional players. Most people don't have Paris Hilton's address book and need help mustering up a group of friends to spend free time. Magdalun Horton MMORPG- I looked at the website www.worldofwarcraft.com, my brother-in-law plays this game so I checked out the website and I called him to ask him about MMORPG's. He told me that he has
MMORPG: I read some info on the game "A Tale in The Desert", and it appears to be quite interesting. Unlike some of the other games, this one doesn't involve killing. It has an economic focus. I didn't realize a fee was involved in playing these games. The Matrix online looks like fun, and if we didn't get enough of the movies, our fun can continue. Jackie MMORPG: I am a traditionalist. I have looked at the sites related to gaming, powerpoint webquests, etc. I believe they have attractive benefits that can intice elementary, middle school students to explore ideas and gain interest in knowledge/concepts to which they may not have other wise been exposed without games. But, I feel stongly that this exposure should be supplemented with more traditional means to access the knowledge that is presented via games. I also believe that games can provide a valuable past time, especially on rainy days. - Bill MMORPG - I have looked at a few sites and found a few that could be interesting to get involved in BUT I have heard too many horror stories. They are very addictive. College students are skipping class to play these games. I do agree that there are great educational games but life is to short to live in a fantasy world. Heather I had never heard of MMORPG's until 7061. I researched the topic and found there's a lot out there on MMORPGs. I found a few free MMORPGs on maidmarian.com and tried my best to play a game. But I didn't know what I was doing!!! I did change my appearance and the car color and I did roam and then I didn't know how to get out of the game. It was frustrating for me. Right now, I'm not ready for MMORPGs. I'm leary of those individuals who fall into the fantasy world and drift/dwell in it mentally while in social settings. Are they remembering schemes that they've seen from their online game and plotting against those who they feel are their enemies? What will trigger them to implement a plan against a suspected enemy? I know that there are some who are able to distinguish between reality and fantasy. But with the rise of so many angry/depressed/easily offended individuals, all it takes is one person to cause havoc. As for me, I would prefer the more innocent and educational ones. We already have too much violence in our society. Judy I did not know much about MMORPG until I came to this class. My son loves to play and I worry about how much time he spends there and how upset he gets whem his 'man' dies. I think they are amazing how intricate they are and how complex. I also think they can be addictive to young people. Anne |
