Middle School Discussion
Special Ed (Asa)
Challenging to use technology in the classroom with students whose IQ's are less than 60. However, as these students are visual learners, projecting images from a computer source is stimulating for the students. These students are hands on learners. But, computers are limited in number.
Leeway to address the special needs of special ed students is available. IEP's define what and how to address the needs of the students.
Language Arts (Magdalun)
Language Arts involves writing and grammar. TCAP obsession obscures the lesson. A lesson plan needs to be TCAP centric. Allowing for time to use technology. Advanced planning is critical. A curriculum guide is provided to teachers one week prior to the beginning of school. The school/State dictates what to teach. But, the school/State does NOT dictate HOW to teach. With one computer per classroom, exposing the student to technology(computer) is challenging.
Leeway to cover the curriculum guide is provided.
Math (Bill)
The curriculum guide can be divided into sections. Then, the class can be divided into corresponding groups. Each group can take turns with the applying technology to the "applied" side of the math lesson.
How will we use technology integration in the classroom?
We will use technolgy in every aspect of classroom mgmt, lesson design, record keeping, etc. I will make charts to display students progress (where we are, where we've been and where we want to be) in the lesson plan.
