Instructional Methods
- need to be varied, within reason
- children need learner accomodations
Instructional Objectives
- need to be clearly defined, connected
- vocabulary should be relative to student ability
- assessment should be tied to the objective
- create assessments when you create objectives
- complete alignment with objectives and assessments
- should be measurable (using a verb)(p. 49 gives examples of action verbs for a behavior objective)
Is there a need for a national curriculum?
- Do we focus too much on testing?
- Is NCLB a kind of National Curriculum?
Maybe, maybe not.
- It may give us something to work towards,
but it does not take learning styles and other factors into account.
- What do students need to know to contribute to society?
- Students from all over the world come to the US for higher ed(look for recruits from other countries)
To do for next class
- Become familiar with spreadsheets
