REFLECTIONS:
Dr. Martindale:
Today's class was quite informative and interesting. Your jovial personality is great for a four-hour course. I enjoyed learning about Candy Arnold and her teaching experience at Memphis Academy of Arts and Teaching, Lucille Richardson's employment at the State of Tennessee and prior employment at Memphis City Schools, Kendra Martin's 15-year tenure at Melrose High School, CJ Harper's progress in the doctorate program (and her 9-month old sweetheart), Talya Garrett's scientific background and your frugality:)!
I would like to share some suggestions I received from one of my professor that I think would helpful to most graduate students. Your online information about APA style is helpful, but I thought this information would benefit students who need a little guidance when writing a good term paper.

SUGGESTIONS FOR A GOOD TERM PAPER
GENERAL ELEMENTS
Always outline it before you write it Follow APA format Make it readable & interesting—see that it flows well Ensure that the bibliography presents a balanced scholarly perspective (books, journals, web based material, references from class bibliography, etc.) Some references should be “hot links” Never wait until the last minute; write it, let it set for a day or so reread, and modify—then share with group members & professor Proofread carefully—have someone else proof read as well Use Microsoft WORD—and run spell & grammar check Include page numbers
INTRODUCTION
Always begin the paper with a statement that summarizes what you are attempting to do in the manuscript. Keep it fairly short, 2-4 paragraphs at most.
BODY OF PAPER
Write for the reader Create sections so that themes fit together Use headings to help your reader better understand where you are Do not have paragraphs that are too long or you will lose the reader Go to the original source when possible; do not quote a quote by someone else Do not assume what the reader knows; if you introduce a topic that has not been covered explain how it relates to your theme Do not write just to fill space
CONCLUSION
Always leave the reader with the concluding thoughts you feel are most important End the paper; do not just stop
Talya - As I was adding to the comments I had to delete previous entries. Sorry! After our conversation on Tues., Candi asked me to post these problem solving steps: Problem Solving Using the 4-Step Method Step1: list the given information Step2: write the equation Step 3: substitute the given information into the equation Step 4: solve

CJ- I found today's class very informative. I think we all will gain a lot from this class, and I look forward to learning new ways to use technology in our classrooms.
Candi- I'm looking forward to learning how to create slideshows. I haven't gotten close to creating a slide show since I was enrolled in IDT 3600. This should be very interesting. I'm a pretty fast learner, but you guys may have to be a little patient with me in the beginning.
