At the start of class
Dr. M instructed the class to login to Ecourseware. He then asked us to click on the contents tab and then click on spreadsheets. He then told us to begin working on spreadsheet activity one. Oh....the surprises on everyone's face. Interestingly, the activity consisted of us individually doing a spreadsheet in microsoft excel on charting what we eat on a daily basis and seeing are we staying within our ideal calorie range.
As we moved right on, Dr. M asked for all eyes to look at the projector screen. He then showed us the contents of spreadsheet activity 2. He explained the activity and assigned it for outside classwork.
Dr. M showed us some examples of what he uses the spreadsheet for. Then he proceeded by pulling up another spreadsheet and asked us to create one identical to the one on the projector screen. After doing so, he then instructed us to type into our chart five ideas that students can make use of spreadsheets.
After a couple of minutes of getting our ideas together. We broke into groups and were told to choose our best three out of the group to share with the class. You can find these ideas listed under the Best Ideas heading.
Dr. M thought it would be a good time to switch gears, moving on down the agenda list to the next topic RSS.
We took a ten minute break @ 6:23p.m.
After the break, we began discussion of presentation software RSS Feed.
What is a RSS?
RSS (Rich Site Summary) is a format for delivering regularly changing web content. Many news-related sites, weblogs and other online publishers syndicate their content as an RSS Feed to whoever wants it.

Ideas for students use of spreadsheets
Presentation Software
Presentation software is used to create visual supplements for presentation material. DO NOT use your visual as your presentation notes! People do not need to see all of your notes and nobody likes a presenter who just stands there and reads off of the screen. If you commit any of these offenses, Dr. M will hunt you down!
In order to prevent such a tragedy, Dr. M showed us some cool ways to show people only what is neccessary and to keep presentation notes more discreet.
