Presentation Software Microsoft PowerPoint is a standard presentation program that is widely used by people in various fields. You are able to create slideshow presentations to illustrate various concepts. Therefore, lessons can be outlined to better communicate each of its components. Furthermore, audio, themes, and pictorial inserts enable Microsoft PowerPoint to be an extremely powerful tool. Handouts can also be made to distribute to the students as a means to ensure that they are able to follow the presentation.

Microsoft PowerPoint can be operated with the following steps. First, turn on the computer. Once you see the desktop of your computer, you should see an icon for PowerPoint. An icon is simply an image with the title of each program on the computer screen. Double-click the mouse (if there are two buttons on your mouse, double-click the left buttons). If there is no icon on the desktop and you are on a PC, click Start, Programs, Microsoft Works (or Office), and then Microsoft PowerPoint. If you are working on a Mac, click Macintosh HD, Microsoft Office, and PowerPoint. There will be a project gallery to appear with various programs to choose from including PowerPoint. Select OK. Once PowerPoint comes up, you will be given a series of templates to choose from under the menu “New Slide” for your first slide. Select which template you will work with first by clicking it once and then click “OK”.

Afterwards, you will double-click the area that you want to type in and begin typing. If there is another area on that slide that you want to type in, just double click it when you are ready and type. When you have finished that slide and are ready to move on to the next slide just click “Insert” then “New Slide”. The “New Slide” menu will appear again, and you will simply select the next slide and follow the previous steps to input the information. You can incorporate images into you slides by selecting the appropriate clip art and text slide from the “New Slide” menu, type in any necessary data, and then double-click the area designated for the clip art. The clip art menu will appear and simply select the desired image to appear in your slide. You should also notice that the “New Slide” menu contains slides for charts, tables, pictures, and media clips. You can use these functions by following the same steps to input clip art instead on of the other forms of data will appear depending on which slide you selected. After you have completed with your slides, you can changed the appearance of the slide by selecting “Format” and then “Slide Design”. Under this menu, select the type of design you want for your slideshow. The design will be applied to all of your slides. You can also set up your presentation to have automatic or manual transitions by selecting “Slide Show” and then “Slide Transition”. You can set your presentation to switch to a new slide after a designated time period in this menu or simply click with your mouse or cursor to move to the next slide. Click “Apply to All” in order to set your entire slide show with these settings or just “Apply” for just that slide. Select what sound you want to use for the slide transitions under the “Sound” submenu. Finally, after you have finished, select “Slide Show” and then “View Slide Show” and amaze yourself with the final product. The aforementioned information is a concise sequence of steps to use PowerPoint; however, you can always explore the capabilities of PowerPoint by using its “Help” menu as well as resources that are available on the Internet. You Tube has a couple of videos that instructs you on “How to Use PowerPoint 2007” and “How Not to Use PowerPoint”. This is perfect for you visual learners since it provides a media presentation to instruct you on the dos and ‘don’ts of PowerPoint.
